Great experience working with this company! Wonderful crew, responsive staff and overall terrific experience! Very professional and did a great job of cleaning up after old sod was removed and new sod installed. Grass looks fantastic! Couldn’t be more pleased!!

Google ReviewHere’s a brief summary of the grass sod varieties we offer at Houston Grass.
St. Augustine Grass Sod — Meets Most Project Needs
Our Raleigh St. Augustine grass sod is the most common sod used for lawn applications in the Houston area. There are lots of good reasons for its popularity including traffic tolerance, good growth habits that tend to crowd out weeds, and easy care. Because of its popularity, we usually have a supply of Raleigh St. Augustine sod in stock at our office. So we sell Raleigh St. Augustine sod by the 16 inch by 24 inch piece, by the 450 square foot pallet, and by the half pallet.
Palmetto St. Augustine is a shade-tolerant sod we offer, and it’s also a beautiful grass. All grass requires some sun so if your project area is partially shaded, please call us at 281-431-7441 to talk about how much shade you have and the suitability of Palmetto St. Augustine sod for your project.
Zoysia Grass Sod — Install the Best Looking Lawn in Your Neighborhood
Our Zoysia sod is second to none in its appearance. It’s a lush grass that invites you to go barefoot. We have sample plots of grass at our office and most people head for the Zoysia plot first. Call us at 281-431-7441 for information about our Zoysia grass sod.
We offer three varieties of Zoysia sod — our Palisades Zoysia, our Cavalier Zoysia and our Emerald Zoysia. The Palisades Zoysia is a medium-bladed grass and provides a dense turf. It’s probably the most slow growing grass sod we offer so you can mow it every week and it will look fantastic. Cavalier Zoysia sod provides you with a more fine-bladed dark green turf.
The Emerald Zoysia grass is mowed to a lower height — between a half and one inch. For best results, you’d want to use a reel mower to cut your Emerald Zoysia grass cleanly. If you don’t have a reel mower, you’d want to make sure the blade of your rotary mower stays sharp. Emerald Zoysia is often used on the edges of golf fairways where its shade tolerance makes it a great alternative to the Bermuda grass used in the centers of fairways.
Our Zoysia grasses are slow-growing so we can only harvest Zoysia once per year compared to twice per year for Bermuda grass sod and St. Augustine grass sod. There are also license fees that we have to pay to grow our Zoysia varieties. So our Zoysia grass sod is more expensive than our Bermuda grass varieties and our St. Augustine varieties. If you think of your home as a long-term investment, and you want the best-looking lawn in your neighborhood, our Zoysia sod is still your best choice.
Bermuda Grass Sod — The Best Choice for Athletic Fields
Bermuda grass offers fast growth that allows it to repair divots and gouges relatively quickly. So if you need grass for an athletic field or a similar high-traffic application, our quality Bermuda grass may be your best choice. We offer two varieties of Bermuda grass sod — Tifway 419 and TexTurf 10. Call us at 281-431-7441 to talk about your project and the variety of Bermuda grass sod that best meets your needs.
Please note that Bermuda grass requires full sun. If your project area is partially shaded, our Palmetto St. Augustine grass sod or one of our Zoysia sod varieties might best fill your needs. Call us for advice.
Pick Up or Arrange Delivery of Your Grass Sod
We usually have pallets of Raleigh St. Augustine grass sod available at our office so if you need a small quantity of grass, you can stop by and pick up some. We sell our Raleigh St. Augustine sod by the 16 inch by 24 inch piece, by the 450 square foot pallet and by the half pallet.
Our other grass sod is sold only by the pallet because we harvest it to your order. We need a couple of days lead time to provide you with freshly-harvested grass sod for those other varieties. We can have it available at our office in Arcola, just off Highway 6, or we can arrange delivery to your project site.
Please call us at 281-431-7441 for more information about pickup and delivery. We can also arrange for professional grass sod installation — please let us know if you need that.
